Art Recipe : Lickable Glue for Handmade Envelopes
Here’s a art recipe to make lickable glue for handmade envelopes. You can use this glue for your envelope flaps, homemade stickers or faux postage stamps. This glue can be kept in an air-tight container for a few weeks.
DIY Lickable Glue for Handmade Envelopes
Not only is this child-safe, it is also a mess-free craft supply for use with children. Mess-free if you apply the glue to the project sheets and let them dry first. This can be done a day or two before the scheduled project class with the kids.
Children love stickers and it can be rather expensive purchasing sheets of stickers for them to stick onto their art and crafts projects. Furthermore, the kind of stickers / pictures might not be easily available.
Now you can print out any pictures related to the project; whether clip arts, photos or computed generated words or phrases using your computer and colour printer and then apply this glue onto the back of the printed sheets. Cut out the images and hand out to the children to work on their craft projects.
Supplies Needed:
1 small pack of gelatin
300ml of white vinegar
air-tight container
Instructions:
Boil the vinegar.
Add the package of gelatin.
Stir until gelatin dissolved.
Cool down and pour into the air-tight container.
Use a brush to apply to the flaps of envelopes or whole sheet of homemade stickers, etc.
Put aside to dry.
Store them and when you need to use the envelopes or stickers, just moisten with a damp cloth.
Not Just For Handmade Envelopes
This is not just a glue for your handmade envelopes or children’s art and crafts projects. This is especially great with creating faux postage stamps. Create your own postage stamps whether using rubber stamps or computer generated art and apply this glue to the back of the decorated image. Trim with decorative scissors or die-cut using a postage stamp die once the glue on the sheet is dry.
Images is best stamped with permanent ink and preferably printed on a colour laser printer.
I love this as I enjoy making faux postage stamps for embellishing my handmade cards as well as decorated envelopes.
